Dear Grateful Heart,

There’s still more.

It’s still 2025, and although it’s less than 3 days until we reset the calendar and shout, “Happy New Year!”, when I look back at the months that made up my year, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. For many of us, 2025 was the year that tested us, physically, emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. Especially psychologically, because a lot of us walked the line between sanity and insanity this year, sometimes veering away from the side of sanity altogether for a time. But God helped us, and even in the midst of our crumbling strength, He carried us through the tough days and loved us through it all. We now know beyond all doubt that the Lord is the God of the valleys, but what about the hills?

Then again, 2025 might not have been difficult at all for you. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to look back over a year, and see how the hand of God has carried you from one victory to another, and how He led you through open doors you could never have imagined you’d walk through. Your life is so different now, and you’ve risen to levels you had only dreamed of but could never have imagined you’d be living in. This time last year, you had no idea how intentional God was about you, what His plan for you was, and the vast difference between the valley you had been in and the mountain you are standing on now. You got that promotion, or the job you didn’t apply for, or this was the year you got the scholarship, or maybe you even met your partner this year, and you’ve been walking in sunshine ever since. That’s a wonderful thing, so bask in the beauty that is your Father’s providence. But just in case there’s a whisper of, “what now?” in your heart, and the tiny pricks of fear are cramping your muscles and asking, “okay, so what next?” And you have no idea what to answer, I have good news for you. There’s more. There’s still more ahead.

How do I know this? How can I be so sure? Very easy. God has promised us, and if He has said it, you can be certain that we’re set for life with that. That’s it. That’s all I have to tell you today.

So beloved, whether you’re grateful for the victories you’ve won in this year, for the child you bore, or the business you started. Even if the only thing you’re grateful for is surviving the various shades of shege you saw this year, and you’re just happy to be alive today because you honestly did not think you’d be here, you had given up so many times you have no clue how you even made it this far. You might not even be excited for 2026, because 2025 taught you that it is wise to be wary. So you’re just here, content to exist but uncertain of what to expect.

Regardless of what you’re grateful for today, and no matter what brings tears to your eyes when you think of 2025, the promises of the Lord remain yes and amen. If your year was amazing, glory to God for what He has done, and we thank Him for what He is set to do. And if it wasn’t, then glory to God for preservation, and we are grateful for all that He has in store for you. So as I drop my pen for the last time in the year 2025, I would like you to take a long look at the past 12 months, seeing the mercy of your Father in the good and the not-so-good, in the friends He surrounded you with and the friendly-enemies, in the miracles both seen and unseen, and hold onto His promises as you intentionally turn around and fix your gaze on the God of the past, present and future. The same God. He’s the same God. He kept you all through 2025, so trust Him to hold you in 2026.

Hear ye the voice of the One who holds the universe in His hands, and hold His promises near to your heart as we walk into the new year. Let go of the trauma and triumphs of 2025, for the Lord that calls you Beloved says:

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.(Isaiah 43: 18-19)

So, dear heart, will you hope again? Will you dare to believe that there’s still more in Him?

Knees to the earth right beside you,

Gabrielle…
