A letter to the broken hearted,
I don’t know about you, but some days I don’t wake up with a song in my heart or a smile on my face. Some days I’m not in the space to be cheerful and chirpy, and what’s more, I genuinely don’t want to be around anyone that is. Unfortunately, those days have become more and more frequent with the rising number of trials we face in these times, but I recently realized that this is the best time for us to practice extending grace, to ourselves and to others. Yes, life is tough, but the same way you’re struggling is the same way the next person is. And if by God’s mercy you’re not, then you’re even more bound to be kind and considerate to those around you.
The good part is, even on the bleak days, when you don’t feel right and you’re drowning in the heavy clouds of sadness, God is there with you. You might not see Him, in fact you most likely wouldn’t, but He’s there, and He sees.
You could be stuck, reminiscing on the barrage of mistakes you’ve made and how things would have worked out differently if only you had done this or gone there. The fact is, we’ve all been there, and to be honest so many of us are still here several times a day. Sometimes it feels like you’re neither moving forward nor back, like you’re watching time and tide leave you in the dust with all your hopes and dreams. Again, I know. Trust me, I can relate, intimately. But God promises us that regardless of the storm, He’ll give us His peace. If your very breath calls on His name, there’s simply no way He will abandon you. So yes, He’s here. In your confusion, in your indecisiveness, in your trial and error lifestyle, He’s here. He’ll always be here.
You could be me, with your heart broken by the sadness that weighs you down sometimes. With tears overflowing in your heart even as your face shines, wreathed in smiles as you go through life, functioning but not fully functioning. You could be disappointed, angry, guilty or ashamed. You could even be bitter at the hands dealt by life, or vengeful because you have been through a lot at the hands of those you love. And maybe, just maybe those emotions are justified. Maybe you’re even right to feel the way you feel.
Regardless, learn this and speak it to your wounded heart on all those days when you can’t see the stars or feel the sun’s warmth;
God is Here.
God sees me.
God loves me.
God is with me.
He loves me.
